Manila, Philippines, April 7, 2026 – A batch of CPI (Corrugated Plate Interceptor) wastewater treatment equipment has been shipped to a palm oil processing plant in the Philippines. This equipment is specifically designed to treat palm oil factory wastewater (POME), a high-concentration wastewater commonly found in palm oil production.
The CPI system utilizes inclined corrugated plates to separate oil and suspended solids from water. In palm oil factories, wastewater contains significant amounts of residual oil, grease, and organic matter. If discharged directly without treatment, this wastewater would pollute local rivers and soil. The CPI equipment provides a physical separation method, removing free oil and settleable solids before the water enters subsequent biological treatment.
For the Philippine buyer, this equipment helps meet local environmental regulations regarding industrial wastewater discharge. The CPI unit has a treatment capacity of 50 cubic meters per day, suitable for medium-sized palm oil factories. It eliminates the need for chemical additives, thus reducing operating costs. The corrugated plate design increases the effective separation area within a compact footprint, saving installation space. The main components shipped this time include the CPI tank, plate assembly, skimmer, and sludge discharge valve. The plate assembly is made of polypropylene, which is corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant. On-site installation takes approximately two days and requires only basic tools. Routine maintenance involves cleaning the plates every three to six months, depending on the influent load.
The palm oil industry in the Philippines is growing, especially in the Mindanao region. Many plants still use simple oxidation ponds to treat wastewater, which are large in size and inefficient. The CPI system offers a cost-effective upgrade, increasing oil removal rates to over 90% while requiring less than half the land area of traditional oxidation ponds.
This shipment is part of a larger supply agreement that also includes three additional CPI units, scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2026. The buyer plans to install the first unit for pilot testing before scaling up to other plant facilities.
